About
Lynn Wickersham
I wear a few hats, but to describe myself in one sentence, I’d say I am a scientist who lives from the heart. My academic and professional background is in wildlife ecology, and I’ve worked in this field for ~25 years, specializing in Neotropical migratory songbird conservation. I found yoga in my mid-20s, stressed by the rigors of graduate school and also grieving the loss of my mother to cancer a few years earlier. My first yoga class brought a sense of peace I hadn't experienced before, and I was immediately hooked. After years of consistent yoga practice, the heaviness of my grief gradually became lighter, and eventually, I found acceptance and peace. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this process ultimately led me to the path of teaching yoga.
I completed my 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training program with the Yandara Yoga Institute, and the experience instilled the importance of a daily sadhana. I have been teaching yoga classes since 2007, and in 2017, decided to deepen my studies and enroll in an 800-hour certification program in the emerging field of Yoga Therapy. I studied with world-renowned faculty, including Nischala Joy Devi, Shanti Shanti Kaur, Laura Kupperman, Marisa Laursen, Durga Leela, Neil Pearson, Antonio Sausys, Maria Shamas, Jai Dev Singh, and Amy Weintraub, learning evidence-based approaches for a variety of conditions such as cancer, chronic pain, mental health, grief and loss, addiction, and neurological disorders. I draw from my personal experiences when I work one-on-one with my clients and apply the tools of yoga to address each individual’s present condition and health concerns. I strive to empower my clients to take an active role in their health and wellness and live their best life, even when faced with difficult health challenges.
